My mother was born in 1920, the year women got the right to vote. My grandmother was 40 years old at that time. Jennifer Brunner, Ohio's Secretary of State gave a speech during the Democratic convention on the fight by women to get this right. You can hear it by going to the Buckeye State Blog. I am grateful for the women of the past who fought for my rights, and I am energized by the increasing number of women who are standing up to take leadership roles in our communities, our state and our nation. It is heartening to see so many women getting actively involved in the campaigns this year. We have much to say!
